Use a remote cable release or
wireless remote control with your compatible digital camera to get optimal sharpness or to shoot from a distance such as with stand-in portraits or wildlife
photography.
Night scenes or long
exposure photography require that the camera be perfectly still while the
exposure is made even when mounted on a tripod, pressing the shutter on
the camera creates vibration, which is then detectable in your image as a lack
of sharpness or blur. The use of a wireless remote control or a cable release will eliminate this undesirable
camera shake. It also enables you to shoot without being in contact with the camera which is good for cameras mounted in difficult to access situations like mounted high above you. There are also third party solutions which also controls such as wireless infrared transmitter that operates the shutter of your camera
Infra-red wireless may also allow zooming and start-stop for Bulb exposures.
